Kuala Lumpur Exchange 2023 (KLEX 2023)

KLEX’23 is a 5-day festival in Kuala Lumpur that honors artisans, celebrates cultural heritage, and showcases exciting programs on arts and crafts. Held from the 14th to the 22nd of October 2024 at Lalaport Bukit Bintang, the festival was a vibrant celebration of creativity and tradition, attracting thousands of visitors from across the region.

The programme was packed with a variety of activities designed to engage and inspire attendees, including hands-on workshops where participants could learn traditional crafts, insightful talk shows that explored the importance of preserving cultural heritage, and dynamic forums that brought together experts to discuss the future of arts and crafts in Malaysia.

One of the festival’s standout features was Pekansari, a bustling marketplace where local artisans showcased and sold their handmade products, offering everything from intricately designed textiles to unique jewelry and home décor. The marketplace became a hub of activity, where visitors could not only shop for one-of-a-kind items but also interact directly with the artisans, learning about the stories and techniques behind their creations.

Adding to the excitement, the festival hosted the Kecoh Kecoh Kebaya, a lively kebaya race and dance competition that celebrated the elegance and cultural significance of the traditional Malay garment. The competition drew participants of all ages, who showcased their talents in both fashion and dance, adding a festive atmosphere to the event.

The festival culminated in a spectacular evening at The KLEX Gala, held at The Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This glamorous event brought together all the participants, organizers, and supporters for a night of celebration, featuring performances, awards, and a showcase of the best works produced during the festival. The gala was a fitting end to a week filled with creativity, collaboration, and cultural pride, leaving attendees inspired and looking forward to the next edition of KLEX.
